rich9 Farmers' Protest: SC Directs Punjab Govt To Ensure Medical Aid For Farmer Leader Dallewal, Issues Notice
The Supreme Court on Friday expressed concern over the life and safety of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewalrich9, who is on an indefinite hunger strike. The Supreme Court directed the Punjab government to take all steps to ensure medical assistance to Jagjit Singh Dallewal.
A vacation bench of Justice Surya Kant and Sudhanshu Dhulia issued notice to the Punjab government on the contempt petition against the chief secretary for not complying with the apex court's order regarding medical assistance to Dallewal, as per PTI.
"If there is a law and order situation, you have to deal with it with an iron hand. Somebody's life is at stake. You need to take it seriously. Medical aid has to be given, and the impression is that you are not following it," the bench stated.
The apex court directed the state government to file a compliance report by Saturday. The court will hear the case again on Saturday.

jilibetJagjit Singh Dallewal has been on an indefinite fast at the Khanauri border seeking the centre to accept the agitating farmers' demands, including a legal guarantee of MSP on corps. The Supreme Court, during an earlier hearing, expressed concern over Dallewal's health and directed the state government and centre to take measures to persuade the leader to give up the hunger strike.
Currently, the Indian team is at fourth position in the points tally.

Following the Court’s directions, Punjab police chief Gaurav Yadav and a Union home ministry official met Dallewal at the protest site and heard his concerns.

Earlier this month, amid ongoing farmers’ protests, the Supreme Court on Friday expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a fast-unto-death protest at the Khanauri border for over 17 days, reported news agency PTI.
Farmers under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have been camping at Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February 13 after their march to Delhi was stopped by the security forces.
The Haryana government set up the barricades on the Ambala-New Delhi National Highway in February after it was announced that the farmers would march to Delhi in support of their demandsrich9, including legal guarantee of MSP for their produce.
