As the row over the sexual assault case in Anna University continuespwbet gaming, BJP Tamil Nadu's president K Annamalai carried out his declaration of flogging himself until justice for the 19-year-old student is achieved.

Videos shared by news agency ANI show the BJP state president self-flogging as his colleagues held banners seeking justice for the student in the background.

On December 26, the state president stated that he would go on a fast for 48 hours, flog himself and won't wear footwear until the MK Stalin-led DMK government is ousted from power.

Annamalai's protest comes amid the assault of a 19-year-old student from Anna University. The female student was sexually assaulted by a 37-year-old intruder, Gnanasekaran.

As per reports, the accused filmed the student and her boyfriend at an isolated part of the campus and later threatened the couple to leak the footage.

Based on the FIR report, the accused first assaulted the male student and then proceeded to sexually assault and molest the female student.

Speaking to reports, A Arun, Commissioner of the Greater Chennai Corporation, said the accused is a repeated offender and 20 cases have been filed against the Biryani hawker.

"He has been convicted in six of them. All of them are petty crimes like theft and house breaking. There are no cases of rowdyism and sexual assault against him. We have not received such complaints so far," the city commissioner said.

The city commissioner dismissed reports of multiple accused in the assault case. Speaking to reportspwbet gaming, A Arun said that Gnanasekaran is the only one involved in the crime as of now. Further investigation will reveal if he has assaulted other women.
