Afghanistan amassed 699 to which Zimbabwe could muster 142/4 before the captains called curtains on the game despite five overs pending. The pitch was flat and there was hardly anything for the bowlers from either sides, despite rain interruption.
Earlier, Hashmatullah Shahidi smashed his second Test double hundred, ending up with 246 runs as the Afghans amassed a mammoth 699 runs in the first innings.
After Zimbabwe posted a formidable 586 runs on the board, Afghanistan’s experienced duo Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi added 364 runs for the third wicket. The stand was broken by the 18-year-old Newman Nyamhuri in the first session on Day 4.
Shah (234) and Shahidi (179 not out) are the highest run-scorers of the match and Afsar Zazai was unbeaten on 46 alongside Shahidi at stumps on Sunday. Afghans were still trailing by 71 runs with seven wickets in hand on Day 4.
